Decks and Patios Photo Album: Bala Cynwyd Renovation
This Bala Cynwyd project addressed several areas of the home that had reached the end of their service life, including a second-floor Polywood deck, an aging asphalt roof, and entry doors that needed to be replaced.
The existing second-floor deck required a complete replacement rather than a simple repair. The homeowners were ready for a more durable, long-lasting outdoor space, so the project included a TimberTech redeck designed to provide a fresh appearance while standing up to everyday use and the elements.
The roofing system was approximately 20 years old and had begun leaking during heavy rainfall, allowing water to enter the home. To address the problem, the existing roofing was replaced with a low-slope roofing system using IKO shingles in Brown Ice, along with new ice and water protection and the necessary flashing details to improve the roof's ability to manage water.
The home's entry points were also upgraded with a ProVia Legacy single entry door and ProVia Legacy French entry doors, providing a significant improvement in both appearance and performance.
To complete the exterior work, the project included 31 linear feet of seamless 6K gutters and 35 linear feet of 3x4 downspouts in white, along with brown smooth counterflashing to coordinate with the new roofing system.
Together, these improvements transformed several aging and failing exterior components into a cohesive, durable upgrade—giving the homeowners a safer, more dependable roof, a completely renewed second-floor outdoor living space, and updated entry doors that enhance the home's curb appeal.
